boutique comes to Los Angeles with a rich heritage and a unique family history.  Melissa Richardson Akkaway, owner and entrepreneur, resurrects her roots and pays homage to her paternal great-grandfather by opening the modern version of an old family business.

Having grown up amongst people who truly understand the concept of extraordinary service, Melissa found a void in the market when it comes to luxury shopping for original pieces in a private, exclusive environment.  The original Beckley retail store opened on Main Street in Las Vegas in 1930 at a time when hand tailored clothing was appreciated and traveling businessmen were in need of custom fit suits, shirts, ties and of course, hats.

Now a modern day version of the concept has come to life in Los Angeles as doors opened in May 2008.  The new Beckley boutique debuted with women’s ready to wear pieces, evening wear, lounge wear, accessories and shoes from top designers as well as emerging industry talent. The Beckley buyers have secured lines such as Zac Posen, Dallin Chase, Hari, Chris Benz, Thread Social, Lover, Rupert Sanderson, Paul and Joe, Wren, Brian Reyes, Loeffler Randall, Made in Heaven Denim, among others.  Additionally, Melissa’s extensive travels led her to unknown talented designers hiding in small boutiques in Europe, South America and Asia. Melissa has brought these talented designers to the forefront along with fine vintage pieces, allowing local customers to indulge in unique, one-of-a-kind items from all over the world.

Beckley boutique is more than a shopping destination; it’s a new concept in luxury retail, located in the heart of West Hollywood, specifically on the ever-expanding fashion forward, Melrose Avenue.  The Beckley Experience is synonymous with luxury lifestyle and having said that the Beckley Boutique will provide unparalleled client services such as personal shoppers, stylists, tailors, highly trained staff, a relaxation area and an intimate garden.  The physical space is contemporary as some of the exterior materials and lighting elements will be modern.  The interior, best described as bohemian chic, provides the space with a warm and inviting feeling by creatively using color, bold statement pieces and design accessories.  Customers are then transported to the private garden where the warm vibe continues on the outdoor patio, lush with greenery and florals.
